”You know when you’re half-asleep and someone proposes to you really badly?”, well Rhys Nicholson does. Fresh off a successful stint at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Rhys is back in Australia with his new show at the Brisbane Comedy Festival.

As a 25 year old, Rhys is surrounded by friends getting engaged and married – even he and his fiancé are looking at property. It’s a time of life where you’re old enough to have responsibility, but young enough to still get away with mistakes and shenanigans. A lot of Rhys’ comedy is anecdotal stories from his unusual life as a touring comedian, yet he finds the universal in his unique experiences that audiences find relatable. He drops what he calls ‘truth bombs’ on all sorts of issues like the meanings of tattoo placements, parent/child relationships, dating advice, getting older and coming out. Always self-aware and deprecating, Nicholson holds a mirror up to human foibles and insecurities.  Rhys Nicholson- Bona Fide is a very enjoyable night of sharp, not always comfortable, observational stand-up comedy.

Rhys Nicholson- Bona Fide played at the Brisbane Powerhouse as part of the Brisbane Powerhouse.
