Regan Lynch Does It In Public

As part of the Anywhere Theatre Festival, Regan Lynch presents his self-written, one-man show, Regan Lynch Does It In Public – Young Dumb & Full of Comedy. The cabaret was a bold and energetic insight into Regan’s own queer life, exploring controversial topics such as HIV, condoms, queer sex life, and medication.

Regan talked candidly about his private life, his childhood, and his sexual liberation in public without any censorship as he values the same openness in everyday life. As an audience member being from a Middle Eastern background, experiencing this true display of freedom of speech was liberating.

My only critique was the location, as the audience was situated on the same level as the performer and so parts of the performance was missed. However, alternative venues are part of the charm of the Anywhere Theatre Festival which makes small performances accessible to both the performer and the public.

Regan Lynch Does It In Public is a vibrant and lively hour of pure laughs and served as a great showcase for Regan’s multi-talents including singing, dancing, burlesque, guitar playing, and even the ukulele made an appearance. The format was interactive, hilarious and cheeky, with dance moves and a strip tease act that was sexy, smooth and fast.

There’s also a surprise ending but I wouldn’t want to spoil it…

Regan Lynch Does It In Public will play at Betty’s Espresso and Bar in West End until May 21.
