Short+Sweet Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast is coming!

Short+Sweet submissions for the largest short play festival in Brisbane, Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast have extended their closing deadline for a few days! Register NOW!

The Short+Sweet Theatre Festival is in its 4th year in Brisbane with a new home at the Loft in the QUT Creative Industries precinct. Another new addition this year is that Sunshine Coast have come on board and will compete, along with the Gold Coast, and Brisbane for a spot in the Top 10 Gala Final held in Brisbane.

The aim of Short+Sweet is to encourage the development of the crafts of acting, directing, theatre-making and writing by aspiring and emerging theatre artists through creating a ten minute theatre work in a supportive (professional) creative environment with technical support provided by skilled industry practitioners.

Short+Sweet also aims to provide showcasing opportunities for performing arts industry practitioners with short works of the highest quality.

The Gold Coast will kick off Week 1 of the Festival with their Top 30 plays held from 1-5 August at The Arts Centre, with auditions on 17 June.

Week 2 will be held at the Lind Lane Theatre in Nambour from 10-12 August, with local auditions being held on 23 June.

Week 3 will be held at The Loft (QUT Creative Industries) from 14-18 August with auditions on 24 June.

The Top 10 plays will then be chosen and perform at the Gala Final at The Loft on 19 August.

Participants can be involved in the festival as an actor, director, writer, or as a complete package ITC (Independent Theatre Company).
