Australian actor Monica Maughan has died in Melbourne, aged 71.
The Green Room Award winner performed regularly with the Melbourne Theatre Company, but appeared with other theatre companies around the country during her long career in the business.
She famously played Miss Prism in the Melbourne Theatre Company production of The Importance Of Being Earnest, which co-starred Geoffrey Rush and toured Australia for some five years. It was also televised.
Maughan won the Green Room Award for Best Actress in 1998 for her role in Tear From A Glass Eye with the Playbox Theatre Company and won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in Company B’s Toy Symphony in 2008.
Maughan also appeared regularly in television and film.
