BOCS Ticketing calls it a day

According to The West Australian this week, Perth based ticketing company BOCS will be wound up in September.

Established 30 years ago and operated by the Perth Theatre Trust for the state government, BOCS was the major ticketing agent for Perth venues.

“BOCS was established when ticketing options in WA  were very limited and the market and its needs have changed significantly”
John Day –  Minister for Planning; Culture and the Arts; Science and Innovation.

It is believed Ticketek and Ticketmaster are both interested in tendering for the rights to ticket venues managed by the Perth Theatre Trust. The acquisition of Burswood Entertainment Complex by James Packer saw Ticketek become another major ticketing agent in Perth, taking over the ticketing of the Burswood Theatre and Dome. Ticketmaster also entered the Perth market, currently ticketing for major venues Paterson Stadium and Challenge Stadium.

The successful tender will become the ticketing agent for His Majesty’s Theatre, State Theatre Centre, Perth Concert Hall, Albany Entertainment Centre and Subiaco Arts Centre. It is expected the announcement will be made by September, before major Perth Arts companies begin  launching programs for 2013.

More than $2 million dollars has been allocated by the Government to ensure the transition costs of staff.

Tenders close June 22.

  • BOCS were so good. Ticketek from my point of view are useless: I have an immobile neck and would ring BOCS to request a central seat. No such service is now available as it is all computerized. Progress?!
