GWB Entertainment today confirmed the final two lead cast for the Australian premiere production of 2:22 – A Ghost Story, with Australian actor and supermodel Gemma Ward taking on the role of ‘Jenny’ and stage and screen star Remy Hii as ‘Sam’, joining Daniel MacPherson as ‘Ben’ and Ruby Rose as ‘Lauren’.

Together, this dynamic and eclectic cast will deliver this live-action thriller in its Australian premiere production, in a stage event not to be missed. Audiences will be able to get up close and personal with the high-profile cast at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre from 25 July.

On behalf of the producers, Torben Brookman said;

We are thrilled with the stellar cast that has been assembled for 2:22 – A Ghost Story and delighted to provide Australian audiences an opportunity to see this group of iconic Australian performers up close and personal on-stage! 2:22 – A Ghost Story is a thrilling night out that is laugh-out-loud funny and nail-biting in equal doses! It’s been a hit with audiences in London and LA so we’re pleased to be bringing it to Melbourne.

Known for her extensive modelling career, Gemma Ward made her screen debut to critical acclaim in Elissa Down’s feature film The Black Balloon opposite Toni Collette. She’s since appeared in Rogue Pictures’ The Strangers, The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann, and the acclaimed film franchise Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opposite Johnny Depp. Gemma will next be seen on screen as ‘Sadie’ in the upcoming World War II dramedy series, While the Men Are Away for SBS. She has previously trod the boards in Perth Theatre Company’s production of The Ugly One.

Remy Hii joins 2:22 – A Ghost Story following his appearance in Celeste Barber’s Australian Netflix series Wellmania and the Netflix feature film Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star alongside Vanessa Hudgens. His other notable screen appearances include Marvel Studio’s

Spider-Man: Far From Home, Netflix’s Arcane and the Warner Bros feature Crazy Rich Asians. Remy, a NIDA graduate, has also performed in the stage productions of Ensemble Theatre’s Suddenly Last Summer and Sydney Theatre Company’s adaptation of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.

2:22 – A Ghost Story first burst onto the West End stage in 2021 and LA in 2022, quickly becoming a cult global phenomenon. The Olivier nominated production and winner of Best New Play (What’s on Stage) combines supernatural intrigue and social commentary in a spine-chilling thriller that has garnered critical acclaim, with Time Out UK calling it “a cracking supernatural thriller,” and The Guardian UK praising it as “a slick, chilling romp of a play.”

The UK and LA productions previously saw high-profile stars, including Lily Allen, Sophia Bush, Stephanie Beatriz, Tom Felton, and Cheryl, cast in previous seasons, adding another dimension to the show for audiences.

Written by award-winning writer and creator of the hit BBC podcast The Battersea Poltergeist, Danny Robins, and directed by Olivier Award-nominee Matthew Dunster, 2:22 – A Ghost Story is a brilliantly funny and adrenaline-filled night where secrets emerge, and ghosts may or may not appear. The play follows a spiralling dinner party between friends, where boundaries are pushed, secrets are spilled, and beliefs are tested.

2:22 – A Ghost Story also features set design by Anna Fleischle, costume design by Cindy Lin, lighting design by Lucy Carter, sound by Ian Dickinson, and illusions by Chris Fisher.

Tristan Baker and Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, Isobel David, Kater Gordon and GWB Entertainment in association with Jones Theatrical Group and Shake & Stir Theatre, 2:22 – A Ghost Story is a must-see for theatre-goers in this laugh-out-loud funny, but also seriously scary production.
