Angelina Ballerina returns to Canberra

 Back by popular demand after a hit season in December 2009, Angelina Ballerina is returning to the Canberra Theatre Centre from 1 – 4 February 2012!   Angelina Ballerina’s Big Audition, performed by the Royal New Zealand Ballet, is the perfect introduction for children aged three to eight years to the magical world of dance.  The live ballet has been given a big thumbs up by Helen Craig and Katharine Holabird – creators Angelina Ballerina. “We attended Angelina’s performances several times, and thought it was absolutely beautiful and wonderfully funny. This sparkling and original ballet is a magical theatrical experience for young and old alike,” said Angelina Ballerina creators Helen Craig and Katharine Holabird.  Angelina Ballerina’s Big Audition takes audiences on the next step of Angelina’s journey to become a Prima Ballerina as she prepares to audition for the prestigious Camembert Academy of Performing Arts.
Angelina Ballerina has been a much-loved children’s character since she first pliéd her dainty mouse feet in 1982. Inspired by original illustrations and stories by Helen Craig and Katherine Holabird, Angelina Ballerina’s Big Audition features Royal New Zealand Ballet dancers performing to a recorded arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s music. The performance is choreographed by the English National Ballet’s Antony Dowson with costumes, based on the original Angelina Ballerina drawings, by Wizzy Shawyer and set designs from Al Riches. Canberra Theatre Centre presents Royal New Zealand Ballet in Angelina Ballerina’s Big Audition from 1 – 4 February 2012.  8 Shows Only!  Performance times: Wednesday 1 February at 10.30amThursday 2 February and Friday 3 February at 10.30am and 1.30pmSaturday 4 February at 10.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm Prices: Standard $40 and Family $140 (two adults + two children or one adult + three children) Tickets: Contact Canberra Ticketing on (02) 6275 2700 or visit canberratheatrecentre.com.au  Music: TchaikovskyChoreography: Antony Dawson (English National Ballet) Set design: Al Riches (English National Ballet) Costume design: Wizzy Shawyer (English National Ballet)
