Tony Awards Administration Committee Confirms Eligibility for 2023-2024 Broadway Productions

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has convened to set the stage for the 77th Annual Tony Awards, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. In a significant meeting, the committee determined the eligibility of 10 Broadway productions for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.

Among the productions discussed were notable titles such as ‘Grey House’, ‘Once Upon a One More Time’, ‘Here Lies Love’, ‘The Cottage’, ‘Back to the Future: The Musical’, ‘The Shark is Broken’, ‘Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch’, ‘Jaja’s African Hair Braiding’, ‘Merrily We Roll Along’, and ‘Gutenberg! The Musical!’.

Key eligibility determinations were made:

  • Briga Heelan and Justin Guarini are eligible for Best Performance in a Leading Role in a Musical for ‘Once Upon a One More Time’.
  • Anna Fleischle and Sven Ortel’s joint eligibility for Best Scenic Design of a Musical for ‘Once Upon a One More Time’.
  • Arielle Jacobs is eligible for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for ‘Here Lies Love’.
  • Eric McCormack and Laura Bell Bundy are eligible for Best Performance in a Leading Role in a Play for ‘The Cottage’.
  • Casey Likes is eligible for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for ‘Back to the Future: The Musical’.
  • Tim Hatley and Finn Ross’s joint eligibility for Best Scenic Design of a Musical for ‘Back to the Future: The Musical’.
  • Duncan Henderson and Nina Dunn for PixelLux are jointly eligible for Best Scenic Design of a Play for ‘The Shark is Broken’.
  • Justin Ellington and Stefania Bulbarella’s joint eligibility for Best Sound Design of a Play for ‘Jaja’s African Hair Braiding’.
  • Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez are eligible for Best Performance in a Featured Role in a Musical for ‘Merrily We Roll Along’.

All other eligibility decisions will adhere to the opening night credits.

The cut-off date for eligibility for the 2023-2024 Tony Awards season is April 25, 2024, for all Broadway productions meeting the necessary criteria. The nominations will be announced on April 30, with the Tony Awards ceremony scheduled to be broadcast live from The David H. Koch Theatre at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on June 16.
