Jackson Hayes Steps into the Role of Young Michael Jackson in ‘MJ the Musical’ on Broadway

‘MJ the Musical’, the Broadway show celebrating the life and music of the legendary Michael Jackson, is set to welcome a new star. Starting December 1, Jackson Hayes will take on the role of Little Michael, portraying the younger version of the iconic King of Pop. Hayes will share this pivotal role with Max Chambers, bringing a fresh dynamic to the production.

This marks Hayes’s Broadway debut, an impressive leap for the young actor who previously dazzled audiences as Young Simba in the national tour of ‘The Lion King’. He steps into the shoes of Bane Griffith, who formerly held the role and is currently performing in the ‘MJ’ national tour in Dallas.

Hayes joins an already stellar cast in ‘MJ the Musical’. The lineup includes Elijah Rhea Johnson and Tavon Olds-Sample, who alternate as the adult Michael Jackson. The ensemble also features Apollo Levine as Rob/Joseph Jackson, Bailey McCall as Rachel, Antoine L. Smith portraying Berry Gordy and Nick, Joey Sorge as Dave, and John Edwards, Ayana Jackson, Lamont Walker II, and Zelig Williams as members of the Jackson family.

‘MJ the Musical’ is distinguished not only by its subject matter but also by its creative team. The musical boasts a book by the acclaimed Lynn Nottage and direction and choreography by the renowned Christopher Wheeldon, ensuring a high-quality production.

The addition of Hayes to the cast is anticipated to bring a new layer of energy and authenticity to the portrayal of Michael Jackson’s early years, further enhancing the immersive experience of this celebrated show. ‘MJ the Musical’ continues to capture the imagination of audiences on Broadway with its vibrant celebration of one of music’s most iconic figures.
