‘Les Misérables Arena Spectacular Embarks on European Tour with Star-Studded Cast’
The legendary musical ‘Les Misérables’ is set to captivate audiences across Europe with its newly announced arena tour, featuring a dazzling new production design tailored for large venues. This ambitious adaptation of Victor Hugo’s classic novel, which played to West End audiences in a concert format in 2019, is now embarking on an international journey, including select UK performances.
The tour showcases an impressive UK ensemble of over 110 actors, musicians, and crew members, complemented by guest stars at various locations. With a narrative that delves into themes of redemption and revolution in France, the musical’s score by Claude-Michel Schönberg and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer have resonated with audiences worldwide.
The ‘Les Misérables Arena Spectacular’ will kick off on 19 September 2024 at the SSE Arena Belfast, offering performances until 28 September before moving on to Glasgow, Sheffield, and Aberdeen for limited engagements. The European leg begins in Luxembourg, continuing through cities including Geneva, Trieste, Milan, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Zurich, with the UK finale in Manchester and Newcastle at the end of 2024 and start of 2025. Subsequent stops include Sweden, Australia, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.
Alfie Boe and Killian Donnelly will alternate in the role of Jean Valjean, with Michael Ball and Bradley Jaden taking turns as Javert for the UK performances. Donnelly and Jaden will extend their roles into Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, and Norway, while Peter Jöback is set to perform in Sweden.
Tickets for the UK and European dates are now available for purchase, inviting fans to be part of the 40th-anniversary celebrations of this monumental musical. After its European journey, ‘Les Misérables’ will continue to inspire with performances in North and South America.
