Lauren Samuels Takes the Stage as Elphaba in ‘Wicked’ North American Tour

Lauren Samuels, renowned for her performances in the West End productions of ‘Grease’ and ‘We Will Rock You,’ is set to headline the North American tour of ‘Wicked’ as Elphaba. This announcement places Samuels alongside Austen Danielle Bohmer, notable for her role in ‘Diana’ on Broadway, who will portray Glinda.

The casting introduces a notable ensemble, including Xavier McKinnon as Fiyero, with further talent such as Alex Vinh, Blake Hammond, Aymee Garcia, and Kingsley Leggs joining the tour. This cast amalgamation aims to offer a fresh perspective on the acclaimed musical.

Samuels is scheduled to debut in Hartford, Connecticut, on May 7, 2024, with the tour visiting cities like Grand Rapids, Toronto, Denver, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and Los Angeles. The selection of cities underscores the tour’s ambition to reach a broad audience across North America.

‘Wicked,’ celebrated for its inventive retelling of ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,’ continues to garner international acclaim, holding over 100 global awards. The production is distinguished by Stephen Schwartz’s music and lyrics, Winnie Holzman’s book, Wayne Cilento’s musical staging, and Joe Mantello’s direction. As the musical prepares for its tour, it also looks forward to the release of a two-part film adaptation, expanding its cultural footprint.
