Broadway production of Six the Musical announces cast

Brittney Mack, Adrianna Hicks, Andrea Macasaet, Abby Mueller, Samantha Pauly, and Anna Uzele will reprise their roles as Henry VIII’s wives—each with a different fate—when the new musical Six arrives on Broadway in their spring.

The British smash hit Six the Musical will open on Broadway on March 12 2020 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre currently playing Waitress.

Hicks, Macasaet, Mueller, Mack, Pauly, and Uzele, who originated their roles in the musical’s extended American premiere in Chicago, will play Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr, respectively.

Six is a British musical with book, music and lyrics by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss. It is a modern retelling of the story about the lives of Henry VIII and his six wives in concert. The show goes on to highlight which of the six wives suffered the most and should therefore be nominated the groups lead singer.

The show was first staged by Cambridge University students at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017. It has since gone on to professional productions in the West End, Chicago, Australia and now Broadway. It made its North American premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre in May, after heading to the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where performances continued through till September 29.

Five of the six actors heading to Broadway are currently performing in the show at A.R.T. (Courtney Mack plays the role of Katherine Howard in Cambridge.) Prior to its Broadway run, the show will also play the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton in Canada (November 1–24) and the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in Saint Paul, Minnesota (November 29–December 22).

They also talked about the surprising popularity of the musical, which has inspired a legion of fans (who call themselves the queendom) even before it’s touched down on Broadway.

Six is currently playing at the Sydney Opera House until the 5 Mar 2020.
