Seen & Heard, Melbourne Fringe
It is all too easy for the perception of artists who inhabit primarily visual disciplines to extend no further than the physical entity that they present on stage – a vision of the drag queen, the dancer, the circus performer, the burlesque artist.
Seen & Heard entirely disables this perception, dropping the pretence of the physical as Becky Lou and a rotating line-up of guest artists explore through simple storytelling, rather than movement, their most personal experiences.
The vulnerability of these performers is clearly visible, as they broach subject matter that many of them have never explored so candidly. It is an incredibly raw and intimate experience, and will certainly expand and deepen the way you view some of your most beloved visual performers.
