The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts this week announced it will host the 2015 Musical Theatre Educators Alliance (MTEA) Conference.
Past Alumni and international star Hugh Jackman enthusiastically welcomed the announcement. “Having been fortunate enough to work in musical theatre all over the world, I know the value of learning from other performers/directors from different cultures, with different approaches. What a great idea to get Music Theatre students, professionals, and educators together in the one place at the one time. Go WAAPA!”
Themed Australasian Overtures the conference will bring together musical theatre educators from all over the world to share ideas about curriculum, recruitment, production and professional placement. With a special focus on Asia it is envisaged the conference will build bridges and broaden horizons for musical theatre across all languages and cultures.
Participants will be offered presentations, workshops, discussions and entertainment from a list of speakers to be announced in the coming months.
“Great theatre careers begin with great training which is why I believe it is highly appropriate that WAAPA is hosting this important conference” said conference Patron Ben Elton.
The Conference will be held on the Mt Lawley Campus of Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia from 20 – 23 June 2015.
