The Great Gatsby: An Immersive Theatrical Production
The Great Gatsby immersive theatre experience is produced by Immersive Theatres and Viral Ventures with the backing of The Arts RISE grants. The adaptation of the hit has taken over all 75 Longland St. and completely transformed every nook and cranny in preparation for this glitzy production. The event is running for a limited time only but will be sticking around until at least late December!
The production is directed by Beth Daly and produced by Aaron Robuck. It is a complete theatre production that has been created to blur the boundaries of conventional theatre, instead immersing the audience in the play itself.
Ticket-holders inhabit the character of Nick Carroway, as he tells the tragic lovestory of 1922. A fable of the Jazz Age, of enchantment and illusion, of a world where love and dreams are pursued and betrayed. Midwest native Nick Carraway arrives in 1922 New York in search of the American dream.
Nick, a would-be writer, moves in next-door to millionaire Jay Gatsby and across the bay from his cousin Daisy and her philandering husband, Tom. Thus, Nick becomes drawn into the captivating world of the wealthy and, as he bears witness to their illusions and deceits, pens a tale of impossible love, dreams, and tragedy.
There will be just 37 audience members per performance so everyone can explore the world of Gatsby up close and personal, and in their own individual way. Expect plenty of ballroom parties, secret rendezvous, audience interaction, hints of cabaret and burlesque, and bootleg gin!
Led by an ensemble cast of the highest calibre Australian actors, this production will offer audiences the opportunity to experience the story of Gatsby as they have never done before. Tickets range from $50pp – $75pp and include two hours of immersive theatre.
