The Disappearances Project Queensland Premiere

The Disappearances Project – version 1.0

Helpmann Award winning theatre company  – Version 1.0 – are bringing their acclaimed production The Disappearances Project to Brisbane for its Queensland Premiere this week.

During the show’s four-day run at the Judith Wright Centre, Version 1.0 will give a voice to the silent struggle of family and friends of those ‘left behind’ in a theatrical masterpiece.

The Sydney based Version 1.0 is an ensemble of artists and performers who create through collaboration, investigating and enacting democracy. With performances both personal and political, their work is based on strong research and social issues, tied together in beautiful crafted and moving theatrical strategies.

The Disappearances Project is also supported by T.R.A.M.P. – Theatre Raising Awareness of Missing People – a project funded by Arts Queensland specifically for the medium of theatre to raise awareness of missing people and the consequences for individuals, families and communities.

Almost 35,000 people go missing in Australia every year and as quickly as the media attention of loss can capture the public’s imagination, the fear of the mystery is almost as quickly, quietly forgotten.

The Disappearances Project presented by the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Performing Arts and Griffith University will be playing from 3 – 6 July.

Bookings: 07 – 3872 9000

  • Well worth taking the time to see this, provokes reflection about the kinds of relationships we foster in our own lives....a little confronting in places but most of all it is rich and real in the textures and complexity it conjures. Well crafted, well performed.

  • This was a wonderful piece of theatre raising awareness about such a silent and taboo topic within our society. Thought provoking, insightful and very real. I urge anyone with or without personal connections to missing people to see The Dissapearances Project, a very moving piece.
