The hit Broadway musical Pippin will pop in to Sydney’s Sidetrack Theatre from December 7 for a limited season.
Presented by the dynamic young independent theatre company CrinkleCut Productions, this darkly comical musical parable will run until December 17, 2011.
Composed by the award-winning Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell) Pippin is the story of the son of King Charlemagne. He has a kingdom at his feet but he is lost and unhappy. He needs to find something fulfilling amongst the hedonism and war of his father’s empire or his life won’t have meaning. While searching he encounters miraculous acts of illusion, drag, burlesque and acrobatics. But Pippin is desperate to find his own extraordinary act.
Pippin was originally directed for the Broadway stage in the 1970s by legendary Bob Fosse, starred a young Jill Clayburgh and played to packed houses for 1,944 performances.
Pippin by Crinkle Cut Productions will run for a limited 10 shows only, directed by Benita De Wit and starring Benjamin Hoetjes, Mitchell Lagos, David Attrill, Erin Bruce, Kat Hoyos, Phil McIntosh, Sam Larielle, Zach Smith, Aimee Timmins and Gaynor Tenison.
