Kevin Spacey takes to the stage tonight, Sydney

Academy Award winning actor, Kevin Spacey, treads the boards tonight at the Lyric Theatre, The Star in the eagerly awaited production of Richard III. 

 Academy Award winning actor, Kevin Spacey, treads the boards tonight at the Lyric Theatre, The Star in the eagerly awaited production of Richard III. The Bridge Project’s exclusive-to-Sydney season of Shakespeare’s masterpiece opened at The Old Vic in London this June and has gone on to play in eight international cities including sold out seasons in London, Hong Kong, Istanbul and Beijing.  Starring Kevin Spacey in the title role, and directed by Sam Mendes, the Sydney season marks the penultimate city on the show’s world tour. The show will finish its tour at The Bridge Project’s North American home in New York at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music).  The Richard III Company this morning took time to gather for a photo call on the rooftop of Sydney’s iconic Four Seasons Hotel before opening night tonight. 
Of The Harbour City and in anticipation of tonight’s opening, Kevin Spacey said, ?“It’s fantastic to be back in Sydney once again. It’s exciting that this time I’ve brought with me an incredible company of actors in Richard III and hope they too enjoy their time in Sydney as much as I know I will.”
NSW Minister for Tourism, Major Events and the Arts George Souris welcomed Kevin Spacey and The Bridge Project Company to Sydney, the only city in the Southern Hemisphere to stage this world class production. 
“The NSW Government through Destination NSW is proud to support Richard III, a key international arts event on the 2011 NSW Events Calendar. I’m sure the cast will have a memorable time performing in Sydney and there’s no doubt Richard III will be remembered as one of the best theatrical productions performed in our city,” he said.   The season is almost sold out, but a limited number of tickets will be released on the day of each performance, so be sure to secure your tickets early!  LYRIC THEATRE – THE STAR1ST – 11TH DECEMBER – 12 PERFORMANCES ONLY!Sunday 11th December – 2pm  – BEST AVAILABILITY A limited number of tickets will be released on the day of each performance
