The National Institute of Circus Art (NICA) presents its annual showcase this week in Melbourne and we have put together a photo feature to celebrate the wonderful work of these incredibly talented artists.

From humble beginnings in an unrenovated warehouse in the Melbourne Docklands, NICA ran a pilot national training project in 1999. All eight participants graduated with a Diploma of Circus Arts from Swinburne University in 2001, and found employment with Australian companies the following year.

10 years on, NICA has grown and now offers Certificate III and Certificate IV in Circus Arts as well as a 3 year Bachelor of Circus Arts with more than 90 students across five year levels. NICA also offers a wide range of fun and safe recreational courses for children, teenagers and adults.

Auspiced by Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, NICA is the only training institute of its kind in Australia.

All images in this gallery were taken by the wonderful David Wyatt (www.capturingimages.com.au).
