Australia’s number one theatre website AussieTheatre.com today announced a major step in its future with the appointment of just its second Editor in history and confirmation that the site will continue to flourish under new management.

Troy Dodds announced late last year that 2011 would be his last at the helm of AussieTheatre.com, the website he created and has controlled since 2003.

It was announced today that Erin James would be the site’s next Editor.

“Erin has been involved with the website for several years and is currently our Deputy Editor, so her move into this role was a natural one,” said Troy Dodds.

“I am enjoying my final year in charge of this website and am excited about what the future will bring for this concept.

“Erin is an exceptional talent with plenty of experience and contacts in the theatre industry and will do an excellent job as our new editor.”

It was also announced today that Matt Edwards would become the site’s Director of Business and Media Strategy.

“Since 2003, Troy Dodds has skillfully built this enterprise into Australia’s leading theatre news website, and his extremely difficult decision to leave the site was quite simply, a personal one,” Erin James said today.

“The success that Troy has enjoyed with Aussie Theatre Network has been mirrored in other aspects of his life, and with this comes increased responsibility and constraints on his time.

“We are extremely excited about what lies in store for AussieTheatre.com and believe that between us we have the perfect skill set to take Troy’s amazing work and build an even greater theatre institution in this country.

“With a very large loyal readership base and a booming theatre industry, we are perfectly positioned to deliver a product that is innovative and current. Public use of technology, the internet and its infrastructure are allowing web based content to eclipse the print media and make a powerful impression on the community as a whole. It’s an exciting time for websites and internet marketing.”

Troy Dodds will retain his current position as Managing Editor until the end of 2011.
