Moonshadow moves to Princess Theatre

Gemma-Ashley Kaplan will star in the world premiere of Moonshadow

The cast of Moonshadow have moved from their rehearsal space at Broken Mirror studios, Brunswick and are today preparing for their first rehearsal in Melbourne’s Princess Theatre.

Written by Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens) and directed by Anders Albien from Sweden, this $5 million musical features 40 of Cat Stevens’ most loved and recognised tunes in a fantastical tale about right and wrong, greed and power, hopes, dreams and love.

Featuring Gemma-Ashley Kaplan, Gareth Keegan, Jolyon James, Blake Bowden, Marney McQueen, Rodney Dobson and a host of Australia’s finest performers, Moonshadow is set to begin previews at the Princess Theatre in 12 days (May 20) ahead of a May 31 Opening Night.

Moonshadow will be the second World Premiere musical to open in Australia in as many weeks, with An Officer and a Gentleman set to officially march onto Sydney’s Lyric Theatre stage on May 18.

With the World Premieres of King Kong, Strictly Ballroom, Dream Lover and Red Dog also set to open in Australia over the next few years, it seems the global belief in our music theatre industry is stronger than ever.
