Since premiering on Broadway in 1998 the show has been seen by over 75 million people and it’s finally Perth’s turn to add to these growing numbers.
With music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice the Tony Award winning score includes the favourites ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’, ‘Hakuna Matata’, ‘Just Can’t Wait to be King’ and (the one that will send shivers down your spine) ‘The Circle of Life.’
Based on the 1994 animated film of the same name The Lion King tells the tale of Simba, who upon the death of his father Musafa, must emerge from exile and overthrow his evil uncle Scar to assume the role of King of the jungle.
The Australian cast includes New Zealand actor Nick Afoa as adult Simba, Indigenous actor Rob Collins, Josh Quong Tart and Western Australian Performing Arts (WAAPA) alumni Nicholas Li.
