Boris Kachka, writer from NY Magazine alluded to her trip in his April 29 feature on the 86 year old theatre and film veteran: “Next winter she and [James Earl] Jones will likely perform Driving Miss Daisy on tour in Australia”.
Driving Miss Daisy, written by Alfred Uhry in 1987, debuted on Broadway in 2010 starring Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones. The show tells the story of the decades-long relationship between a stubborn Southern matriarch and her compassionate chauffeur.
Although Lansbury was expected to receive a Tony Award nomination for her role in Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, her name was not on the list of nominees announced last night in New York City.
