La Boite announces new GM

Mr Kent Maddock, Chair of La Boite Theatre Company, today announced the appointment of Terese Casu as the company’s new General Manager.

Terese has more than 20 years experience in arts management. She has been General Manager of the Australian Theatre for Young People, General Manager of Circa, and has held senior management positions at the Sydney Film Festival, Company B Belvoir and the Bundanon Trust. Terese brings extensive experience with government agencies including the Australian Film Commission and Australia Council. In many of these positions she oversaw and contributed to periods of significant change and growth.

Terese has a background in performance. Her contribution to the development of cross-art-form and physical theatre within Australia has led her to work with internationally acclaimed companies such as Circus Oz, The Flying Fruit Fly Circus, Stalker Theatre and Legs on the Wall. Her event and production experience includes extensive international touring in Eastern and Western Europe, UK, Japan, China, Africa and America. As a musician she has spent several years independently researching and studying in West Africa and Eastern Europe.

From Artistic Director David Berthold: “I’m very excited that Terese has joined us. She is an energetic, intelligent, entrepreneurial and widely experienced manager and producer. She brings just the right mix of skills to help lead us into what we hope will be a terrific new period for La Boite.”

Kent Maddock said the Board’s selection panel was excited by the quality of the applications received for the position and pleased to have secured the services of a nationally recognised General Manager of the calibre of Terese Casu.

Terese is looking forward to the new position, to the challenges that it brings and starting at La Boite on 15 February.
