Kim Smith the ‘Misfit’ returns to Australia with new cabaret

One of Australia’s best cabaret performers, Kim Smith, will return home to Melbourne from New York (via the Adelaide Cabaret Festival) for the first time in years – and he’s bringing a brand new Weimar-era inspired cabaret.

Misfit is a dark neo-Weimar fantasia, charting a dark and whimsical path through a ruined musical landscape of disfigured pop and peculiar period treasures. Smith is going to prove, mischievously, that misfits have more fun.

In a strictly limited season from June 22 at Chapel off Chapel, Smith will sing in German, French and English and reinterpret works by Weimar-era composers as well as modern-day artists including Friedrich Hollaender, Björk, the Supremes, Kylie Minogue, Kurt Weill, and a myriad of glittering others.

Directed by Christian Coulson with Musical Director Amanda Hodder and produced by cabaret whiz company Luckiest Productions, Smith is coming home to take you places you never imagined.

Misfit will be at Chapel Off Chapel from Friday 22nd June through to Sunday 24th June at 7.00pm.
