KERRIE & DOLLY’S HOUSE PARTY launching on Joy TV

Kerrie & Dolly’s House Party is a brand new live-streamed light entertainment variety program to be hosted by Kerrie Stanley and Dolly Diamond twice weekly on the freshly launched JOY TV and funded by the Victorian Government.

The Victorian Government is funding the immediate rollout of priority initiatives to support the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTIQ Victorians impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, finding new ways of supporting each other to keep our communities connected.

The Victorian Government recognises that in times of crisis community is more important than ever. The LGBTIQ community is stronger together; and the Victorian Government is committed to nurturing that strength, reads the public announcement.

This funding will increase the capacity of JOY 94.9 as a multimedia organisation, to launch JOY TV, a video streaming service using platforms such as YouTube and social media channels. Kerrie & Dolly’s House Party is proudly the first collaboration to be streamed on JOY TV.

The show aims to bring a sense of the LGBTIQA+ and allied communities into viewer’s homes, as well as to emphasise hope and optimism during these challenging times. The format will include songs, performances and segments, along with updates and interviews with key LGBTIQA+ figures all by video link or as pre-recorded pieces. It will also regularly feature a number of recognised Victorian LGBTIQA+ community members including Mama Alto (jazz singer/cabaret artist), Dean Arcuri (cabaret artist/JOY broadcaster), Sexy Galexy (drag king/comedian), and many others.

Dolly Diamond is a much-loved personality originally from the UK who has proudly called Australia home since 2009. Dolly has proven herself to be one of this country’s finest comedy cabaret talents and became an Australian citizen in 2014.

Proudly Dolly has a strong relationship with many Victorian LGBTIQ organisations including JOY94.9 FM, Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Pride March Victoria, Melbourne Rainbow Band, the Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Chorus, Daylesford’s ChillOut Festival and Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival, where she was honoured with a Life Membership in 2014.

Dolly was awarded Artist of the Year at the inaugural GLOBE Community Awards in Melbourne. She presented and produced two highly respected programs on C31 TV, The Late Show with Dolly Diamond (a variety and late-night talk show format) and To Hell in a Handbasket (also broadcast on JOY 94.9), which saw her interview an array of her entertainment industry friends including Kate Ceberano, Marina Prior, Jinkx Monsoon, Rhonda Burchmore and Julia Zemiro. She was Artistic Director of the 2017 and 2018 Melbourne Cabaret Festivals and has worked extensively in the cabaret and comedy scene for over a decade at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Fringe World Perth, Melbourne Cabaret Festival and Broken Heel Festival, amongst others.

It’s time to switch over to something that is community based, informative, interactive and a whole lot of fun, says comedy-cabaret icon and host, Dolly Diamond. We’re here to take the LGBTIQA+ community’s mind off the challenges we are facing right now. And we certainly won’t be forgetting our allies!

Not many people would take being told that they were talking through their hat as a compliment, but Kerrie Stanley does. Kerrie is a born communicator, and it just so happens that she is one of Australia’s finest milliners and an established member of Melbourne’s millinery elite. Most of the time she lets her headwear do the talking, but give her a microphone and people are lucky to get a word in.

A multi-faceted talent, she is also a highly sought-after hairstylist and make-up artist with over 20 years experience in the fashion, theatre and commercial industries. Kerrie works for ABC News Breakfast Television and is also a member of the wigs, hair and make-up team on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Melbourne. Armed with an unquenchable curiosity, a disarming personality, superb presentation, and wit to boot, Kerrie Stanley provides the polish that makes every occasion shine.

Dolly Diamond and I are excited to bring you all the variety you can handle, not once, but twice a week,” said co-host, Kerrie Stanley. “We believe in accentuating the positive so we will focus on good news stories and subjects, especially ones that make us all laugh, Kerrie said.
