AussieTheatre is proud to support the 2012 Sydney Music Theatre Cabaret Festival, running from 17th August  through to September 3rd.

Australian stars from smash hit shows Wicked, Jersey Boys, Rock of Ages, and many more will take to the stage in a series of intimate cabaret performances set to delight, stun and entertain.

In a time where the musical theatre industry in our country is facing uncertainties through early show closures and cancellations, this is a great chance to showcase our local talent and mobilise the music theatre community in Sydney into showing its support for our artists.

Artists already announced for the Festival include Michael Falzon (Rock of Ages), Bobby Fox (Jersey Boys) and Michael Griffiths (Jersey Boys), Laura Bunting and Flip Simmons (Buddy! The Buddy Holly Story), Wayne Scott Kermond (Singin’ in the Rain), Shaun Rennie (Cats) and Tyran Parke (Sunday in the Park with George).

“We are very excited with the amazing talent we have on board for the inaugural 2012 SMTCF,” said Rowena Vilar, one of the Festival coordinators.

“We couldn’t be happier with the diverse range of artists – and we can’t thank them enough for their willingness to be involved.

“This is a ‘passion project’ for us and in light of the volatile Musical Theatre climate, with shows closing early (Moonshadow – Officer) and being cancelled (Next to Normal) we are hoping the Musical Theatre community will band together to strengthen our industry. ”

This a fantastic initiative from our incredibly talented community and AussieTheatre is proud to support the Festival.
