Male triple threats (singer/actor/dancers) over 21 years of age are eligible to audition for the TV series, which will be holding live casting calls across the country throughout April. Each auditionee will have no more than 2 minutes to strut their stuff in the first round, and the casting brief suggests applicants bring a song and a monologue and to be ‘prepared to show us your best moves’.
It is understood that the show will be modelled on similar reality TV programmes from overseas (think How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria and I’d Do Anything) and it was announced this week that the winning contestant will be showered with a host of prizes at the end of the competition.
To sweeten the deal, a cash prize of $250,000 will be awarded to the winner of the series, along with one month’s accommodation in New York City and an opportunity for a promotional performance on Broadway.
The blockbuster Australian musical Priscilla – Queen of the Desert is the backdrop for this season of I Will Survive and the final four contestants will receive ‘intensive training’ in the role of Tick – made famous by Hugo Weaving in the film and Jeremy Stanford in the original Australian musical production.
The winner will also gain representation with an established US agent.
