Hit songs, flop shows

Simon Gleeson, Danielle Matthews, James Millar and Rosie Harris

They are the songs that made it big… from the shows which didn’t.

The newly devised Another Opening, Another Show opens at Chapel off Chapel in Melbourne from March 3, showcasing an eclectic mix of hit songs from the musicals that didn’t quite make it (as well as some that did).

The production stars four of Australia’s leading musical theatre talents: Rosie Harris (Shane Warne The Musical), James Millar (Gutenberg! The Musical!), Danielle Matthews (winner of 2009 Rob Guest Endowment) and Simon Gleeson (Eureka).

Another Opening, Another Show is a celebration of the songwriting talents of composers such as Sondheim, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Ahrens & Flaherty and Boublil & Schönberg. This production is a unique chance to hear a selection of songs from musicals such as The Pirate Queen, Floyd Collins, Sideshow, The Beautiful Game shows that may never make it to Australia.

There are five shows only from March 3 until March 7. Bookings: (03) 8290 7000.
