Family Fun at CIRCFest22 Meanjin this April

CHORES

Inspired by slapstick legends Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, the side-splitting duo of Chores is a hilarious and action-packed show about two excitable brothers playing in their very messy bedroom. A generous serve of comedy and chaotic acrobatics accompanies every attempt at cleaning their room and doing their chores.

Chores creator Julian Roberts:

Chores is the return to the good old days of pure entertainment, where bringing joy is priority number one. Operating at an extremely high LPM (laughs per minute) we love it when parents enjoy the show as much as kids do!

MINUS THE MONKEY

This show has got everything BUT the monkey! A smorgasbord of funny, jaw dropping, seriously astonishing acts by some of Brisbane’s leading circus performers. A 60-minute cabaret suitable for the whole family!

Venue: Ron Hurley Theatre, Seven Hills Hub
Date: 30 Apr & 1 May 2022
Ages 8+

KNEE DEEP

Four performers are pushed and pulled, eggs are weighed and tested, unlikely bonds are forged, and acts of intimacy cohabit space with thrilling physical feats. The Casus artists bring a raw emotional edge and honesty to the stage revealing the strong connection of the quartet throughout the journey. Like an egg, delicacy does not necessarily equate to fragility, although it is often a fine line that the performers must tread!

Venue: The Tivoli
Date: 26-28 Apr 2022

ASSUME PEOPLE LIKE YOU

A robot, an alien and a human – what could go wrong? Remember when you could become friends just from making eye contact in the playground? Well, this is the circus show that represents the struggles of modern connections.

Where the word LIKE has become a vernacular for friendship, relationship or even a social media validation. What happens when a Lonely Heart Human wants to be LIKED but doesn’t know how to make friends? Can a robot be LIKED or can an alien be a friend? Perhaps it is easier to swipe right and just Assume People Like You.

Presented by Cluster Arts

Venue: Metro Arts
Date: 21 -23 Apr 2022

CASTING OFF

Casting Off stereotypes, these dynamic Australian women tumble, talk, fly and balance precariously. A disarming, hilarious show about living on the edge and talking about it; and how it’s easier done than said. Circus that makes you laugh and cry simultaneously – and witness a 62 year old woman do a standing backflip!

Intergenerational circus with lots to say: the personal is political, fury is fun and the acrobatics downright dangerous – especially when life gets in the way.

Presented by A Good Catch Circus

Venue: Brisbane Powerhouse
Date: 21-24 Apr 2022
