Equity questions the web

The internet has done wonders for everyday life but its use to promote shows is being brought into question by Equity.

Equity is questioning whether companies should use outlets such as YouTube to post rehearsal footage, given shows and performers are generally unpolished during this stage.

Representatives of Equity met with the Sydney Theatre Company last week to discuss how the increasing use of web content to promote productions will affect performers.

Equity is asking whether it is ever ok to have cameras in the rehearsal room, and what sort of limitations could be placed on putting material recorded in rehearsals up on YouTube and Facebook?

If you have an opinion on this issue, Equity wants to hear about it.
