Criss :

For well over a decade, I’ve been supremely grateful for the continued support that Australia has shown for all my shenanigans on the other side of the planet. I’ve likewise felt so guilty that I’ve never gotten the proper opportunity to show that appreciation in person, This short run of shows throughout Oz is a small token of that gratitude, and I hope that adding a couple more can make up for lost time with so many folks that have cheered me on since the beginning!.

Criss is an Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice and Screen Actors Guild award-winning performer whose multi-faceted career has spanned television, film, music and stage.

Also heading to Adelaide, Hobart and Canberra, Criss’ live shows include songs featured throughout his wildly eclectic career as both a songwriter and performer. From the now cult classic songs he penned for YouTube sensation Team Starkid, to the many notable covers he’s performed in his early days as a Disney-song busker and later during his tenure on FOX’s hit TV show Glee. Other unique interpretations of contemporary pop and Broadway classics are also a fixture of his concerts, as well as music from his own EP releases throughout the years — all served with his distinct brand of spontaneity, humour, and insight.

In 2009, Criss co-founded viral sensation Team Starkid, a YouTube-based theatre group that shot him into subcultural fame with A Very Potter Musical, a musical parody for which he wrote songs and played the boy wizard. His cult status exploded into the mainstream the following year after being cast as Blaine Anderson on Ryan Murphy’s TV phenomenon Glee. Criss later reunited with Murphy in 2018 for his searing performance as spree killer Andrew Cunanan in the award-winning true crime series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

On Broadway, Criss replaced Daniel Radcliffe in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, winning the Broadway.com award for favourite replacement for his portrayal of J. Pierrepont Finch, and in 2015 took over the title role in Hedwig and The Angry Inch. Criss returned to Broadway in 2022 to star opposite Laurence Fishburne and Sam Rockwell in David Mamet’s Tony Award-nominated play American Buffalo.

His debut EP Human debuted at the top of the Billboard Heatseekers chart while his follow up EP, Homework, reached No.7 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. 2021 saw Criss release his third EP, Masquerade, and his debut full-length Christmas album A Very Darren Crissmas which turned into a hugely popular US national tour.

Tickets to all shows go on sale today, Thursday 3 August at 10am.
