If you thought sing-a-long Sound of Music was camper than a row of tents, wait will you see Priscilla Queen of The Desert strut her stuff in the sing-along arena!
The Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW are holding the most outrageously caaaaamp fundraiser on Thursday 18 August at the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington, screening iconic Aussie classic film The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert complete with dress ups, sing a longs, welcome drinks and prizes for the best dressed!
The Actors Benevolent Fund is the entertainment industry charity which provides financial support for our fellow artists and colleagues in times of difficulty due to injury, illness, disability or financial stress. After 72 years we are experiencing an increasing demand for assistance as many of the familiar faces that have entertained us on big and small screens, on stages and the creatives who work with them, are reaching old age.
Most of these well-loved artists have enjoyed the main part of their careers in pre-superannuation times and now need support to help them with the challenges age brings. At the other end of the spectrum we have many young actors entering the profession who also need help for a range of issues.
Artists have always been willing to donate their talents to raising funds for causes but who is there for them when they need help? The Actors Benevolent Fund, that’s who.
By coming along to this Priscilla fundraiser, you are supporting the people who have filled our lives with stories, songs, tears and laughter.
