On a budget? Opera Australia releases $45 tickets for Opera on Sydney Harbour

Opera tickets can get very pricey very past, so it’s nice to hear some affordable ticketing news today, and this time it concerns one of the biggest spectacles in the Sydney social calendar: Turandot, Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour.

At 4:30pm on the day of each performance, Opera Australia is releasing 45 tickets for $45 each. The tickets can be purchased in person at the Turandot box office office on Mrs Macquaries Road.

There’s a limit of four tickets per person, and seats may have a restricted view depending on availability.

Turandot is a light experience of opera that is an easy watch for a first timer. It features one of the most famous arias in the operatic canon – “Nessun Dorma”  – and its story of any icy queen and love in the strangest places is punctuated by actual, literal fire. And the harbour is right there in the background. It’s pure spectacle.

“We want everyone to come to Turandot,” said Opera Australia artistic director Lyndon Terracini.

“It’s the perfect opportunity for people who have never been to an opera, and if you know Turandot already, then you’re going to be amazed by this production,”

Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour: Turandot runs from 24 March to 24 April 2016. For more information about the opera and this offer, visit opera.org.au.
