Bloomshed’s A DODGEBALL NAMED DESIRE bounces into Melbourne Fringe
Coming off a sold-out run of their Animal Farm production at Northcote Town Hall, Bloomshed is thrilled to announce their new show, A Dodgeball Named Desire as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, 18 – 29 October.
Bloomshed go up against an elite VFL team in an all-out Battle Royale. Get drenched in the sweat of these Titans of the Court as they compete for the heart of aging southern belle, Tennessee Williams. In this brave new world, those who win will inherit the earth, and those who lose are lost for good.
Bloomshed make critically acclaimed award-winning theatre, pushing the boundaries of what live art is and can be. From immersive installations to radical re-imaginings of classic texts, they mix big political ideas with entertaining and accessible storytelling. Bloomshed’s work is a high-octane mess of delicious diatribe, dance breaks, and doom scrolling.
The Green Room award-winning theatre company has recently presented an adaptation of Animal Farm through the Darebin Arts Speakeasy, which received a cacophony of praise.
Since its inception in 2014, Bloomshed has created twelve new and adapted works, presenting at Darebin Arts Speakeasy, Common Rooms x Melbourne Fringe, Theatre Works, Blue Room Theatre, Old 505, Platform Arts, The Butterfly Club, The Wedge, and La Mama Theatre. Bloomshed examines major political issues that attend our era: climate change, class inequality, and corporate greed. They are continually in a dialogue about new ways to reach their audience and empower communities to enact positive change.
