It was announced today by producers Howard Panter and John Frost that Bert Newton will play the Narrator in the Sydney season of Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show.
Newtown will come to the cast from playing Vince Fontaine in the Australian tour of Grease. He has also trod the boards recently in Wicked, Annie, and The Producers.
The Sydney Season of The Rocky Horror Show follows successful seasons in Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne, and will arrive at the Lyric on 11 April 2015. Craig McLachlan, starring as Frank N Furter, won the Helpmann Award this year for Best Male Actor in a Musical for this performance.
“We are both thrilled and a little bit nervous to have the great Bert Newton play the Narrator and dance the Time Warp with us,” said John Frost and Howard Panter.
“With Craig and Bert leading the Rocky Horror cast, this is sure to be a wild and sexy night out. Sydney theatregoers should give themselves over to absolute pleasure before madness takes its toll!”
