Bangarra’s Terrain – photo feature

The world premiere production of Bangarra Dance Theatre’s Terrain has just concluded it’s Melbourne season at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Playhouse.

Celebrated Aboriginal choreographer Frances Rings was commissioned by Bangarra’s Artistic Director Stephen Page to create Terrain, which will now tour nationally to Sydney, Wollongong, Adelaide, Canberra and Brisbane.

Described as a hymn to country, Terrain transports the audience us to Lake Eyre, the place of Australia’s inland sea : one of the few untouched natural waterways in the world.

14 Aboriginal and Torres Strait dancers explore the the relationship of Indigenous people to country and how landscape becomes a second skin…

Frances Rings says of this new production, “Landscape is an intrinsic part of our identity and who we are. Our second skin we carry with us. I hope this work changes the way people view the landscape to see beyond the surface and understand that the greatest significance is not what we see but how we feel, listen and respond to our greatest natural treasure”

We bring you this special photo feature with photography by David Wyatt.
