AUSTRALIAN MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL Headliners & Performance Program Announced

Australian Musical Theatre Festival (AMTF) is thrilled to announce the headlining artists for the 2022 festival. Appearing in Launceston next May will be Paulini, Philip Quast and Chloe Dallimore.

Australian Musical Theatre Festival is an unparalleled opportunity for musical theatre lovers, makers and industry professionals to get together, share, nurture and celebrate this wonderful genre. Held in Launceston, Tasmania, it includes a diverse program with opportunities to teach, collaborate, engage, perform, learn and – of course – enjoy. A non-profit event, the Festival is held annually to benefit Australia’s musical theatre industry.

The festival organisers are excited to be welcoming Paulini, who rose to fame through the first season of Australian Idol, and went on to become an Aria Chart topper, as both a solo artist and part of the Young Divas. In 2017 Paulini played the lead role in The Bodyguard Musical, singing 17 Whitney Houston tracks every night. She’s also had roles in other musicals including Saturday Night Fever, Hair and Chess. More recently Paulini has been back in the recording studio, and on television screens in both The Masked Singer and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

Philip Quast will bring over 40 years of industry experience to the festival. From the stages of Australia and a 17 years stint as a Play School presenter to playing Javert in Les Misérables on the West End. Along with a hugely successful stage career, he can be heard on over 15 cast recordings, and has made extensive feature film and television appearances.

Chloe Dallimore is best known for her portrayal of Ulla, the Swedish blonde bombshell in The Producers-The New Mel Brooks Musical which won her five awards, including the 2005 Helpmann Award. Along with an incredible list of theatre credits, she also performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Chloe is now an Internationally trained and accredited Intimacy Co-ordinator (Intimacy on Set (UK)). And she is currently working on Broadway musicals, as well as productions for Netflix, Warner Bros, Fremantle, Channel 9 and Channel 10.

The headliners will be joined by other highly experienced industry professionals from across the country, including Robin McLeavy, Anne-Maree McDonald, Lisa Gormley, Freya List, Sian Kelly, Jennifer Peers, John O’Hara, Nicole Farrow, Amanda Hodder, Travis Hennessy, Jack Lark, and local legend John X. With even more great artists to be announced closer to the festival.

Australian Musical Theatre Festival Artistic Director Tyran Parke adds:

The 2022 lineup of artists brings an incredible depth of industry experience. The artists will be sharing their extensive knowledge across all facets of the musical theatre industry and beyond. All powerhouse performers in their own right, to have them all together will be magic!

And for locals, and especially students, to have such intimate access to this level of skill and experience is just phenomenal.

Whether you want your name up in lights on the West End, or to help out with the choreography at your local theatre, anyone who wants to get involved in any aspect of musical theatre, at any level and with any amount of experience will gain an enormous amount of value from participating in the festival”

The Festival Program will feature performances, workshops, and other events including a specific schools program to help nurture, build confidence and foster networks for talented young people from across the country. Tickets are on sale now from Theatre North.

The Australian Musical Theatre Festival is supported by the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania, the City of Launceston, Theatre North and many local businesses.
