Arts Centre Melbourne’s Big Night In with John Foreman to air two Encore Episodes ahead of Season 2 premiere

Arts Centre Melbourne’s Big Night In with John Foreman is back for a second season after the hugely successful first season. From Wednesday 9 September until Wednesday 14 October the six new episodes will provide more light entertainment from John Foreman and the Aussie Pops Orchestra together with artists and musicians live in their own homes as part of Arts Centre Melbourne’s digital program Together With You.

In a time where audiences have had to find new ways to connect with their favourite artists, it has become clear that music and song have the power to tell stories when we often can’t find the words. Seeing audiences engage with John, the Aussie Pops Orchestra and some of their favourite artists in these challenging times has been a highlight of the series and why it was such an important initiative for us to bring back, says Arts Centre Melbourne CEO Claire Spencer AM.

Before the second season airs, audiences will be treated to two special Encore Episodes featuring fan favourites David CampbellMarina Prior,  Casey Donovan and Human Nature as some of the best interviews and musical moments from the original digital season.

Encore Episode 1: Wednesday 26 August – 7pm
Encore Episode 2: Wednesday 2 September – 7pm

We’ve all been heartened by our audience’s reactions to the show over the last few months, and I’m very grateful to all of the wonderful artists who’ve joined us for this unusual but necessary journey. It’s clear that people are hankering after good, old fashioned comfort TV, and artists are yearning for an opportunity to remain connected to their audiences. Arts Centre Melbourne’s Big Night In helps both of these things to happen and I’m very grateful to everyone who has made this show possible, says Foreman.

The brand new line-up of stars for the second season will be announced in the coming weeks but past guests who have dazzled audiences include Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows, Hugh Sheridan, Jemma Rix, Courtney Act, Lucy Durack, Rhonda Burchmore, Bert and Patti Newton and Sam Mac among many others.

Human Nature

The two Encore Episodes and second season were made possible through funding from the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC), as part of Victoria Together. The government is using Victoria Together to keep people connected to art, learning and entertainment while they can’t experience it live. The DPC is not a content producer and as such is providing funding to organisations that can produce interesting content and programming that talks to a diversity of audiences and experiences.

Arts Centre Melbourne announced it had postponed welcoming visitors back to its venues in accordance with the most recent Victorian Government guidelines on COVID-19. The ghost lights will stay on a little longer as Arts Centre Melbourne focuses on finding new ways to engage with audiences, including the digital online hub – Together With You.
