ADC’s THREE returns with world premieres and Queensland debut

Australasian Dance Collective (ADC) is set to bring back its much-loved triple bill THREE, for its fourth iteration next month. Renowned for championing bold ideas, boundary-pushing choreography and exceptional artistic talent, the acclaimed program returns with another exhilarating line up of contemporary dance.

Featuring two new commissions alongside an immersive Queensland premiere, this year’s program invites audiences to experience contemporary dance in unexpected and unforgettable ways as THREE takes over Brisbane Powerhouse from 15–18 July 2026 for a limited season.

Bringing together some of Australia’s most exciting contemporary dance talent, THREE features world premieres by celebrated choreographers Amber McCartney and Joel Bray, alongside the Queensland debut of Harrison Ritchie-Jones’ critically acclaimed duet, CUDDLE.

 THREE has quickly become a highlight of ADC’s programming, celebrated for giving rise to distinct artistic voices.

Since 2021, THREE has provided audiences with an opportunity to experience a breadth and depth of artistic voices from across the Australian and international contemporary dance landscape.

In 2026, we’re proud to bring together a triptych of exceptional Australian talent, showcasing the creativity, skill and versatility of our Company Artists.

Renowned for bold, visceral and utterly unforgettable creations, Amber McCartney rejoins THREE with a highly physical and compelling new commission that blurs the line between human and alien.

In a Queensland-first, audiences will also experience extraordinary guest artist Harrison Ritchie-Jones in his acclaimed CUDDLE which will be performed with Michaela Tancheff.

This high-octane encounter pulses with absurdity, humour and fierce physicality, drawing audiences into an immersive world of sound and vision unlike anything they’ve experienced before.

Celebrated for an artistic voice that’s rich in storytelling, acclaimed Wiradjuri choreographer Joel Bray will complete the triptych with an incredibly moving and meditative new work exploring the ways we as humans experience time.

It provides artists with the opportunity to develop and share their distinct creative signatures while showcasing the extraordinary versatility and excellence of our Company Artists. Over the past four iterations, the program has given rise to many remarkable works, demonstrating ADC’s commitment to investing in artists and our artform.

The impact of the program extends beyond the Brisbane stage. Following the Brisbane Powerhouse season, ADC will set off on tour to China with Dull Boy by Alisdair Macindoe and Glass Teeth by Melanie Lane – two works that were developed through ADC’s commissioning pipeline, highlighting how ADC creates pathways for artists to reach audiences nationally and internationally.

At its heart, THREE is about creating work that surprises, moves and invigorates audiences. We are proud to champion artists whose work reminds us what it feels like to be human, and to share those voices with audiences both here in Brisbane and around the world.
