Public Art Officer – Arts Trail


An exciting opportunity exists within the Arts & Culture Department for a Public Art Project Officer to curate, develop and deliver a series of public art initiatives for a new arts trail leading from Frankston foreshore to McClelland Gallery in Langwarrin.

Your duties will include:

  • High level of project management to ensure the arts trail is delivered in an effective and timely manner within budget parameters
  • Critical and creative expertise to conceptualise, research, develop, and present Public Art outcomes for the trail including sustained engagement with local communities and outcomes that drive visitation to the trail from beyond the region.
  • Preparation of artist briefs in addition to coordinating evaluation panels and assessments of public art submissions,
  • Work with relevant internal departments to achieve objectives in regard to the Frankston Arts Trail, including overall project timeframes, relevant authority approvals and ongoing stakeholder engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with artists, associated groups and key stakeholders to research, develop and produce community responsive and engaging public art.
  • Ensure that Council’s commissioning and public art management practices are aligned with best practice industry standards.
