West End’s ‘Sister Act’ Announces Expanded Cast with Beverley Knight and Alexandra Burke in Leading Roles

The West End production of ‘Sister Act’ has announced its expanded cast list. Set to grace the stage at the Dominion Theatre, this highly anticipated show draws its narrative from the acclaimed film, charting the journey of Deloris Van Cartier, an aspiring musician whose life veers off course after witnessing a murder.

Leading the cast, award-winning singer Beverley Knight will continue her acclaimed portrayal of Deloris Van Cartier from March 15 to June 8, 2024. Following Knight, Alexandra Burke, a renowned artist in both the music and theatre spheres, will assume the role from June 10 to August 31, 2024. Burke is no stranger to this character, having previously brought Deloris to life in the 2016 tour of the show.

The production also welcomes Ruth Jones, celebrated for her roles and as co-creator of ‘Gavin and Stacey,’ who will be seen as Mother Superior until June 8, 2024. Prior to her West End appearance, Jones is set to perform at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin, February 13-24, 2024.

Lesley Joseph reprises her role as Sister Mary Lazarus, alongside Brit Award-winning Lemar as Curtis Jackson. The cast also features Clive Rowe as Eddie Souther, Lizzie Bea as Sister Mary Robert, Alison Jiear as Sister Mary Patrick, and Carl Mullaney as Monsignor O’Hara, showcasing a diverse and talented ensemble.

Bea and Joseph are set to continue with the production beyond June 10, with additional cast members yet to be announced. The musical, boasting a score by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater, enjoys the creative direction of Bill Buckhurst, choreography by Alistair David, and a range of other experienced professionals in its creative team.

This production, previously led by Knight and Jennifer Saunders, received critical acclaim during its run at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith last summer, promising an enthralling experience for its new and returning audiences.
