The Phantom of the Opera has confirmed casting for its 40th anniversary West End season, with a new company set to lead Andrew Lloyd Webber’s landmark musical at His Majesty’s Theatre.
The production, which first opened in London in 1986, will mark four decades in the West End this autumn. A special anniversary performance will take place on 9 October 2026.
Leading the cast as the Phantom from 8 September 2026 through to spring 2027 will be Jordan Donica. He will be joined by Beatrice Penny-Touré, who returns as Christine Daaé from 20 August 2026 to 24 July 2027.
Rhys Whitfield will play Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny from 3 August to 21 November 2026, while Sierra Boggessreturns to the world of Phantom as Carlotta from 3 August to 21 November 2026. Boggess previously played Christine in Love Never Dies.
Also joining the principal cast are Matt Bateman as Piangi, from 3 August 2026 to 24 July 2027, Joseph Millson as Monsieur André, Ian Pirie as Monsieur Firmin, Joanna Riding as Madame Giry, and Millie Lyon as Meg Giry. At select performances, the role of Christine will be played by Colleen Rose Curran.
The wider company includes Harry Apps, George Arvidson, Michael Baxter, Embla Bishop, David Burilin, Polly Clarke, Leonard Cook, Hywel Dowsell, Connor Ewing, Lila Falce-Bass, Florence Fowler, James Gant, Emily George, Melanie Gowie, Molly Hall, Will Hawksworth, Matt Hayden, Nino Hepher, Mandy Kwan, Verity Marlow, Tim Morgan, Inguna Morozova, Skye November, Taylor Pardell, Johnny Randall, Rachel Spurrell, Jasmine Wallis, Victoria Ward and Alicia Wong.
Based on Gaston Leroux’s novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra, the musical follows Christine Daaé, a young soprano whose extraordinary talent draws the attention of a mysterious masked composer living beneath the Paris Opera House. Its score includes The Music of the Night, All I Ask of You, Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, Masquerade and the title song.
Producer Cameron Mackintosh said the anniversary season would be led by “a sensational cast” and praised the enduring global appeal of the musical, particularly among younger audiences discovering the show and Lloyd Webber’s score for the first time.
Since its premiere, The Phantom of the Opera has become one of the most successful musicals in theatre history, seen by an estimated 160 million people across 217 cities, 52 territories and 23 languages.
The production is produced by Cameron Mackintosh and features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart, additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, and a book by Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber.
The creative team includes orchestrations by David Cullen and Lloyd Webber, musical supervision by Simon Lee, design by Maria Björnson, sets adapted by Matt Kinley, associate costume design by Jill Parker, lighting by Andrew Bridge, associate lighting by Warren Letton, sound by Mick Potter, and musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, recreated and adapted by Chrissie Cartwright.
Originally directed by Harold Prince, the current production is directed by Seth Sklar-Heyn and presented by Cameron Mackintosh and LW Entertainment.
