SIX The Musical Reaches 1000 Performances at Vaudeville Theatre in London’s West End

SIX The Musical, a standout show in London’s West End, has achieved a significant milestone by celebrating its 1000th performance at the Vaudeville Theatre. This landmark event highlights the musical’s sustained popularity and its special place in the hearts of theatre enthusiasts.

The 1000th performance, an extraordinary event, saw 652 audience members welcomed with a festive display of 1000 balloons. Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, each attendee was surprised with a golden souvenir ticket, with a unique number on it. The evening reached a thrilling climax when one audience member, chosen through their ticket number, received a customised goody bag from the cast.

Producer Kenny Wax expressed immense pride in this milestone, reflecting on the importance of the Vaudeville Theatre as the forever home of SIX and acknowledging the show’s exceptional status in the West End. This sentiment was echoed by the lucky winner from the audience, who shared her delight and surprise at being invited on stage, describing it as a dream come true for any theatre fan and a unique part of the special performance.

Since its inception, SIX has carved out a distinctive niche for itself, both in the West End and internationally. Its creators, Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, have seen the show grow from its debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2018 to a renowned fixture in London’s theatre district. After its initial run at the Arts Theatre and a brief stint at the Lyric Theatre, SIX settled into the Vaudeville Theatre in November 2021.

The musical’s success is evident in its numerous awards, including two Tony Awards in 2022, a WhatsOnStage award, and five Olivier nominations. Its international presence is extensive, with performances on Broadway, a highly successful UK tour, and productions across North America, Toronto, Australia, Europe, and Asia. Digitally, SIX enjoys a significant following, with 1.5 million followers across various platforms and almost 1 billion soundtrack streams.

SIX offers a modern, empowering take on the stories of the six wives of Henry VIII. The current 2023-24 company features a talented cast, including Nikki Bentley as Catherine of Aragon and Thao Therese Nguyen as Anne Boleyn, with direction by Lucy Moss and Jamie Armitage, choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, and contributions from a talented creative team.

The 1000th performance of SIX is not only a celebration of the show’s success but also a testament to the vibrancy and resilience of London’s West End as a leading cultural and theatrical hub.
