Dolly Parton Musical Set for UK Premiere in 2024 with Dates and Ticket Information Announced

The much-anticipated musical ‘Here You Come Again’, celebrating the iconic music and life of Dolly Parton, is set to make its UK debut in 2024. Fans of the renowned country singer can look forward to the show’s opening at the Playhouse in Leeds next summer, which will be followed by a UK tour and a run in London’s West End.

The narrative centres around a devoted fan who finds solace and inspiration in a fantasy version of Dolly Parton during challenging times. Audiences can expect a vibrant soundtrack featuring some of Parton’s most famous and cherished songs, including “9 to 5”, “Islands in the Stream”, and “I Will Always Love You”, alongside the show’s titular track.

Originally penned by Emmy award-winning writer Bruce Vilanch, with direction by Gabriel Barre and a performance by Tricia Paoluccio as Dolly Parton, the musical has undergone an adaptation for UK audiences. British playwright Jonathan Harvey, known for works like ‘Gimme, Gimme, Gimme’ and ‘Coronation Street’, has reimagined the show for the UK.

Director Gabriel Barre shared his excitement about bringing the musical to UK audiences. The adaptation promises a fresh approach, with a new British actor leading as Kevin and a UK-based creative design team. The show aims to celebrate Parton’s timeless music, her unique wit and wisdom, all embodied by actress Tricia Paoluccio, who has received acclaim for her portrayal of the country music legend.

While additional casting and the creative team details are yet to be announced, the dates for the Leeds Playhouse run from 4 July to 3 August have been confirmed. Tickets for these performances will be available on the Leeds Playhouse website, and details for the UK tour will be available through ATG Tickets.

The musical promises to be a vibrant celebration of Dolly Parton’s enduring legacy, appealing to both long-time fans and newcomers to her music.
