Michael Imperioli Joins Jeremy Strong in Broadway’s An Enemy of the People
Michael Imperioli, renowned for his roles in HBO dramas, is set to make his Broadway debut alongside Jeremy Strong in the upcoming production of ‘An Enemy of the People.’ The announcement of this casting brings together two of television’s acclaimed actors for a theatrical engagement.
The play, a limited 16-week run, will grace the Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway. Audiences can anticipate previews beginning on 27 February 2024, with the official opening night scheduled for 18 March 2024. Tickets for this adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s work, reimagined by Amy Herzog and directed by Sam Gold, will be available from 9 am on Wednesday, November 15.
The production team includes eminent names in theatre design. Scenic design will be crafted by dots, costume design by David Zinn, lighting by Isabella Byrd, and sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman. Rachel Bauder will lead as the production stage manager, with technical supervision by Juniper Street Productions and casting by Taylor Williams Casting.
Imperioli, an Emmy and SAG Award winner, gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of Christopher Moltisanti in ‘The Sopranos,’ a role that earned him a Primetime Emmy Award in 2004. His recent work includes a Primetime Emmy nomination for his role in ‘The White Lotus.’
‘An Enemy of the People’ centers on a Norwegian spa town, whose water, a vital tourist attraction, is discovered to be contaminated. Doctor Thomas Stockmann, upon uncovering this, faces ethical dilemmas and societal backlash as he tries to expose the truth, transforming into an unexpected whistleblower.
