Political comedy I’M SORRY, PRIME MINISTER will hit the road next year after its West End season. Written and directed by Jonathan Lynn, and co directed by Michael Gyngell, the play opens its tour at Cambridge Arts Theatre on 19 May 2026, then visits venues nationwide through 18 July 2026.
Tour stops include Richmond Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, New Victoria Theatre Woking, The Marlowe Canterbury, Cheltenham Everyman Theatre, Milton Keynes Theatre, Grand Opera House York, and Theatre Royal Brighton, with further dates to be announced.
The production revisits former Prime Minister Jim Hacker and Sir Humphrey Appleby in retirement, concluding the long running satire created by Lynn and Antony Jay. The creative team features set and costume designer Lee Newby, lighting designer Mark Henderson, sound designers Ben and Max Ringham, and casting director Marc Frankum.
I’M SORRY, PRIME MINISTER premiered at The Barn Theatre in 2023, then toured to Theatre Royal Bath and Cambridge Arts Theatre. Its upcoming West End engagement, the first for The Barn Theatre, runs at the Apollo Theatre from 30 January to 9 May 2026. Casting for the tour will be announced in due course.
The original BBC series YES MINISTER and YES, PRIME MINISTER aired from 1980 to 1988, starring Paul Eddington as Jim Hacker and Nigel Hawthorne as Sir Humphrey, winning multiple BAFTAs and later spawning a 2010 stage adaptation that toured and transferred to the West End.
