Destiny’s Child Reunites to Support Michelle Williams on Broadway

LOS ANGELES – JUN 9: Michelle Williams at the “Think Like A Man Too” LA Premiere at TCL Chinese Theater on June 9, 2014 in Los Angeles, CA

Michelle Williams received a standing ovation and some heartfelt support from her Destiny’s Child sisters, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland, during the opening night of her Broadway debut in Death Becomes Her. Williams stars as Viola Van Horn in the musical adaptation of the cult-classic 1992 film, and her former bandmates were there to cheer her on, joined by Rowland’s husband, Tim Weatherspoon, and Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles.

Rowland and Knowles graced the red carpet ahead of the show, while Beyoncé arrived later, blending into the audience in a chic ensemble of pale gray and off-white. In a fan-captured photo, Beyoncé was spotted smiling widely as she watched her friend shine on stage.

Over the weekend, Beyoncé shared her enthusiasm on Instagram, posting a Reel filled with highlights from the evening, including shots of the Playbill, moments backstage with Rowland and Williams, and her stylish outfit. She followed it up with a carousel of images featuring Williams in an elegant gown, captioning it with an affectionate “My Belle.”

Williams also shared moments from the night on her social media, while Tina Knowles chimed in with glowing praise for her performance, describing the play as “fantastic” and expressing pride in Williams’ Broadway success.

The new musical adaptation of Death Becomes Her brings to life the darkly comedic story of vanity and immortality. Based on the 1992 movie starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Willis, the plot revolves around two women obsessed with eternal youth and beauty who turn to Viola, a mysterious figure with a potion that promises everlasting life—with dramatic and comedic consequences.

The reunion of Destiny’s Child members at the Broadway premiere brought an extra dose of star power to an already memorable night, reminding fans of the enduring bond between the iconic trio.
