DEAR EVAN HANSEN film to be released September 2021

It was reported today that Universal Studios’ film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen will be released theatrically in September 2021.

Ben Platt is set to reprise his role as the titular character for the film, alongside a cast of Amandla Stenberg, Kaitlyn Dever, Colton Ryan, Nik Dodani, Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Danny Pino, and more.

The film is directed by Stephen Chbosky (Perks of Being A Wallflower), and produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel. Pasek and Paul, the pair behind the show’s music and lyrics, are executive producing.

The original Broadway production was met with critical acclaim, winning 6 of its nine Tony Award nominations, as well as 2 Drama League awards, and a Grammy.
