‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Set for Broadway Transformation Under Director Jon M. Chu

Jon M. Chu, acclaimed director of the 2018 hit film ‘Crazy Rich Asians,’ is bringing the story’s lavish blend of young love and old money to Broadway. The project marks Chu’s Broadway debut and is developed in collaboration with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and author Kevin Kwan.

The musical will present an adaptation of Kwan’s bestselling novel, which centers on Rachel Chu, a Chinese American professor who discovers the immense wealth of her boyfriend’s family during a trip to Singapore. The film adaptation, featuring stars like Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Michelle Yeoh, was a box office success, maintaining the top spot for three consecutive weeks and garnering a worldwide total of $239 million. It has since sparked anticipation for its sequel, based on Kwan’s ‘China Rich Girlfriend.’

LOS ANGELES, CA. November 04, 2018: “Crazy Rich Asians” stars Harry Shum Jr., Ronny Chieng, Bradford Simpson, Lisa Lu, Nico Santos, Michelle Yeoh, Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Nina Jacobson, Jon M. Chu & John Penotti at the 22nd Annual Hollywood Film Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
